We will be performing Christmas Truce again with the choir from the Maîtrise de l’Opéra, this time with an orchestra from Germany, at the Cité de la Musique in Strasbourg to mark the precise centenary of the armistice: 11am on Sunday 11th November 2018; it should be a unique and moving experience. A further letter setting out travel and accommodation options will be coming round very shortly; watch this space.

We advertise our availability for weddings and similar events on our website, and our terms are very reasonable. This is an enjoyable thing to do and it’s also a useful source of income for the Choir – so we’d love to do some more! If you know anyone who's getting married or who would like a small choir for a particular event, please do bring us to their attention. Details and how to contact us are shown on the “Book Us” page of our website and there is also a flyer which can be made available to anyone who is interested.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our Plant Sale on 30th April. The total raised for choir funds was £56.

Our Quiz Night on 19th May was our most successful yet - we had 77 people taking part and the total raised so far is £620. If by any chance you attended the quiz night but you or any of your friends neglected to pay, it's not too late to put that right; Kairen will be pleased to receive your contribution.

Don’t forget to bring any of your unwanted books to sell - and to bring some spending money so you can buy books that you do want!

The Choir's equal opportunities policy is published on our website. The Committee recently reviewed the policy and our record in implementing it. We thought our performance in providing equal opportunities and encouraging diversity in the Choir is reasonably good, but we aware of the dangers of complacency. If anyone thinks we are falling short in this area, or has any suggestions for ways in which we can do better, please speak to a member of the Committee. (Committee members can be recognised by their blue name badges.)

The next Choir Newsletter will be published in Sept/Oct. Items for inclusion can be sent to the Choir Secretary
